PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) Principal Pops Conductor Marvin Hamlisch and Fairmont Pittsburgh Executive Chef Andrew Morrison will trade places next week.

Hamlisch will host An Evening of Cooking and Conducting at Habitat restaurant at the Fairmont at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 23, to benefit the PSO.

Hamlisch will take “center stage” at Habitat and join Morrison in preparing and serving a five-course pre-fixed menu inspired by the upcoming PNC Pops concerts, “Marvin, Dave Koz and the Movies.” In addition to a delicious dinner, Hamlisch will step out of the kitchen and provide plenty of entertainment, including a song or two, for the foodies, fans and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra musicians in attendance.

“When we are playing pop music, I guess you could say we’re really cooking,” Hamlisch said.

“I am honored to share the stage, so to speak, with Marvin,” said Morrison. “He is an incredible talent and I look forward to this one-of-a-kind dining experience.”

Cost of the dinner is $125/person, and includes wine pairings. Reservations can be made by calling 412.773.8848. A portion of proceeds from the evening will benefit the PSO.

For his turn, Morrison will try his hand at conducting Rossini’s William Tell overture with the PSO during the concert at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29, at Heinz Hall.

The concerts, “Marvin, Dave & the Movies,” begin at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26; 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, and Saturday, Jan. 28; and 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29. Tickets, ranging from $20 – $95, can be purchased by calling the Heinz Hall box office at 412.392.4900, or visiting the PSO at
