The stunning Palau de la Musica got a workout this afternoon as we had our first rehearsal of the tour. Tonight we play Mahler 2 and the stage size is challenging to say the least. I think that they might have to regrout all the tile surrounding the stage after we leave!
The first couple of days here in Barcelona have been gorgeous. I’ve seen many colleagues out enjoying the day as we’ve adjusted to euro-time.
There are quite a few logistical challenges presenting Mahler 2 on the road as there are off-stage “Banda” parts that require rehearsing and balancing in a way that meets Maestro Honeck’s demands. Here is a jovial moment with Maestro Honeck and Bill Caballero between the rehearsal and the concert (they waited until I pointed the camera the other way to start throwing punches).
This is the perfect city to start off an intense tour…the town and its people are beautiful and relaxed! Until next time….
