RESIDENT CONDUCTOR LAWRENCE LOH LEADS PSO IN POPS, CLASSICAL CONCERTS IN MARYLAND

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) will travel to the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival at the Wisp Resort near Deep Creek, Md., in July for two concerts led by PSO Resident Conductor Lawrence Loh.

Loh will conduct the PSO at 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 15, in a Pops concert highlighted by the works of composers John Williams, Howard Shore, Klaus Badelt and Danny Elfman for such movies as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Jurassic Park, Hook, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean and Batman. The program also will feature Saint-Saëns’ Danse macabre and highlights from the Broadway musical, Wicked.

The following evening – Saturday, July 16, at 7:30 p.m. – Loh will lead the orchestra in a classical concert featuring works by Rossini, Brahms and Tchaikovsky. PSO violinist Shanshan Yao will be the featured soloist in Brahms’ Concerto in D major for violin and orchestra.
