PSO ANNOUNCES EVOLVING PARTNERSHIP WITH LINCOLN PARK PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) and Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center, located in Midland, PA, announce a new phase of their partnership. The Orchestra will perform two concerts at Lincoln Park beginning with the 2010-2011 season.

Michael E. Bielski, PSO Senior Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, remarked, “Five years ago, when I started working with Dr. Nick Trombetta, Stephen Catanzarite and the Lincoln Park staff, I knew that this partnership was going to be the beginning of a relationship that not only serves students, but the community too.  This has been and continues to be a partnership that the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is proud of.”

In addition to the concerts, a PSO musician will spend a year as a Visiting Artist at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.  As a Visiting Artist, the musician will conduct masterclasses, assist with coachings and hold recitals at Lincoln Park.

“The PSO has truly been a partner and a very important part of the world-class culture at Lincoln Park from long before our grand opening in 2006,“ says the Center’s Managing Director, Stephen Catanzarite. “I am pleased that the Orchestra will continue to perform here, and that our educational program, with its musicians, will continue to expand through the Visiting Artist program.“

Current subscribers of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Lincoln Park have the opportunity to secure seats for both concerts next season before the general public.  Subscribers will receive a letter in the mail with further information.

On December 12, 2010, the PSO will perform a Holiday Pops concert featuring traditional carols and classic holiday music. Audiences will enjoy surprises, special guests and music including “White Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” and “Hallelujah” from Handel’s Messiah.  Red, white and blue is the theme for the July 1, 2011 concert featuring patriotic works just in time for Independence Day.
