PSO Book Club — MUSICOPHILIA, coming up on March 16 –Yonca Karakilic

Here are a few highlights from Dr. Oliver Sacks, author of our next book – Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain. As always, we'll be meeting at the Music department of the Carnegie Library in Oakland at 6PM on Tuesday, March 16.

Discussing synesthesia and absolute pitch… reminds me of a fellow music student who could only work with a mechanical metronome because she was extremely sensitive to the pitch of electronic metronomes that sometimes interfered with the key she was playing in..

Moving on to Alzheimer's and how music helps retain some memories as well as a sense of identity…
