The melodious strains of Alan Shulman’s Theme and Variations for Viola and Piano…

and if you cared to peak around the corner, you’d see Tatjana Mead Chamis (PSO Associate Principal Viola) rehearsing for the Chamber Orchestra concert in a couple of weeks’ time.  Accomanying her was Rodrigo Ojeda, who will also be featured on that concert, although not on that piece.  (Shulman originally wrote it for viola and piano, but later transcribed the work for viola, strings and harp, which is the version we’ll be hearing at Bellefield Hall).

I’ve never heard the piece before, but it sounds like it’s going to be a real treat!
