My Fellow Fellows and the Audience of the Future – ASOL Fellow – Lisa Bryington

While I’m visiting the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra this spring, four other Orchestra Management Fellows are spending time at four other symphonies across the country.

Over the course of our year in this program, we have stayed in touch through email and conference calls.  The subject of our recent conference calls has been a presentation we will make at the American Symphony Orchestra League’s annual conference in June in Nashville.  We are charged with speaking to the national orchestra community about our experiences as Fellows and our views on the orchestra world.

One focus of our presentation will be the future of orchestra audiences.  Here at the PSO, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to observe the Audience of the Future program, monthly sessions for high school students culminating in a PSO concert for-students-by-students.  I’ve shared my observations of the program with my fellow Fellows, and we are looking forward to making the Audience of the Future program part of our presentation, along with great education inititatives happening in their current symphonies.
