My First Weeks – Lisa Bryington

I can hardly believe I’m finishing my third week with the Pittsburgh Symphony.  The past few weeks have flown by, and I am really enjoying my time here.  By "shadowing" a different member of the PSO senior staff almost every day, I’ve developed a long list of projects to complete and meetings to attend.  I know I will learn a great deal about orchestra management from the staff, board members and musicians of the symphony, and I am also hoping to make a contribution to the PSO through my work.
My favorite part of working with the PSO?  The concerts!  I especially enjoyed last weekend’s performances with Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos and Pepe Romero.  For me, the Three-cornered Hat suites of Manuel de Falla were an absolute joy.  I played these pieces with my college orchestra, and I loved the energy the musicians of the PSO brought to these frolicking, vibrant dances.  I can’t wait for this weekend’s concerts with Sir Andrew Davis and the wonderful Jonathan Biss.  I wish there was a way I could hear these performances six more times. . .perhaps I’ll find a large duffel bag and stow myself away. . .West Coast, here I come?
